Burlington VT Bluebird Tavern

Friday, July 17th, 2009

As promised I am following up on my meal at the Bluebird Tavern. It was really delicious. The menu was unique and offered a wide variety of fresh local food. The five of us shared a bunch of the smaller dishes and it was perfect. We started with oysters and the poutine. Then moved on to a double blue cheese burger, mussels, a mushroom flatbread and a butternut gnudi. Not one thing was off, which is pretty rare for any new restaurant.

The staff was friendly, knowledgeable and helpful with the decision making process. We arrived at 6:30 and the place was packed, so I would recommend making a reservation or planning on a 30 minute wait. Our wait was shorter than promised and they have an area with bar tables, so you can grab a drink and not feel like you’re crowding the people eating at the bar.

It is always exciting when a new restaurant opens and give us some new variety in our dining. Bluebird Tavern delivers in this department. You won’t find bone marrow and oysters on many (if any) other menus in the area, that’s for sure. And if you do, it probably won’t be done this well. In case it is not clear, I am a fan!

Just Over the Winooski: Bluebird Tavern

Thursday, July 16th, 2009

I am taking a friend out for her birthday this evening; we’ve decided to try the new restaurant on Riverside Ave, Bluebird Tavern. It’s just up the street from downtown Winooski in the old Tortilla Flats building. I have been reading through their site and it look to be a delicious event! I am looking forward to a pot of pickles and some fried chicken! Yum…

I am not only excited about dinner, but the Bluebird Tavern website lead me to my new favorite blog: Feel Good Eats. What a treasure trove of recipes, I can’t wait to start cooking them up.

I’ll report back tomorrow about my meal. In the meantime click away to checkout theĀ Bluebird Tavern’s Menu & Feel Good Eats Blog.
