Our House Bistro Winooski VT: Open for Restaurant Week!

Tuesday, May 18th, 2010

It is Restaurant Week in Burlington and Our House Bistro in Winooski’s downtown is open for business. Friends waited an hour on line yesterday for opening night, but raved it was worth the wait.

Seven Days has a great article with the low-down on the chef owners & the type of cuisine they’ll be serving up. We’ll be posting our own review and hours once we’ve had a chance to check it out. So far we know they are open for dinner and it’s getting a lot of positive comments! The website is under construction but you can check it out here: www.ourhousebistro.com

Winooski Cop Rides the Rotary for Cancer

Wednesday, April 14th, 2010

This Saturday Ben Kaufman, of the Winooski Police Department, will ride his bike around the rotary in downtown Winooski to raise awareness and money to fight cancer. His goal is to ride 100 mile, a total of 575 laps around the rotary, to raise $10,000 for the LiveStrong Foundation.

You can support Officer Kaufman by making a donation at his website (click here) or by purchasing a yellow flag for $5 at a number of local Winooski businesses. You are encouraged to write a message on your flag which will fly in Circle Park during Ben’s ride.

Here about Kaufman’s challenge in his own words on WCAX, click here.

Visit austin2010.livestrong.org/benkaufman to donate online or for a list of businesses selling flags.

Irish in Vermont & Winooski

Tuesday, April 13th, 2010

I just came across this really interesting article in the Bennington Banner about the history of Irish in Vermont. There is a bit about a man by the name of John Lonergan who opened a market in Winooski to cater to the textile workers.

You can read the full article here: Irish in Vermont a story that ‘needed to be told’ by Mark E. Rondea, Bennington Banner (click article title)

Thursday, February 11th, 2010

The Eclecto fundraiser held at the Champlain Mill, sponsored by the Winooski Falls Development Company, Monelle, Ecco, Champlain College, Farrell Distributing and Mountain Air Systems, raised $2000 for the O’Brien Community Center in Winooski. We are very excited that the event will have the opportunity to positively impact our community!

The B2B Cartel which hosted the event is very excited about the funds raise. They are particularly thankful to the Northfield Savings Bank for their matching donation and to the Cascades Team for donating the space in the Mill and their help with set up for the event. Keep you ears open for the next B2B event this summer!

Eclecto B2B Fundraiser at the Champlain Mill

Tuesday, January 5th, 2010

eclecto

The Cascades and the Winooski Falls Development team is excited to host the B2B Cartel’s Winter event, Eclecto at the Champlain Mill. The event will be held on Saturday, January 16th from 9PM-2AM. A 20$ donation is required for entry and all proceeds will benefit the O’Brien Community Center in Winooski.

B2B or Back to Black has been hosting these events for a number of years now. It stared as a group of friends who wanted to throw a great party and benefit a worthy cause. Each event allows them to donate to a local charity or organization the group feels deserves the support. The 2009 summer event raised funds and supply donations for the Kings Street Youth Center.

We’re really excited to have to B2B host at the Mill! Check out information about the event by clicking here.
