Retrofitting Suburbia for Elderly
Wednesday, September 30th, 2009I was sent an article, “Retrofitting for the Elderly“, from the Terrapass website. It is a pretty interesting post that struck a cord with what we have done at the Cascades. The Winooski Falls development has created a walk-able, green community that is easily assessable to seniors.
Granted it is not lost on me that the one major thing we need is a market, but we’re working on that and it will come. In the meantime we’re minutes from care at the hospital and close to public transportation that can take our residents downtown, to campus, the hospital, etc. It was cool to see what other communities are doing to create these senior friendly environments and how this in turn creates a green community.
