Tomorrow night The Cascades at Winooski Falls will host an Appreciation Night for Mobius Mentoring on their riverfront courtyard. Mobius is a mentoring program active in the Burlington & Winooski VT communities. They have 800 active mentors in Chittenden County and want to take a night to say THANK YOU!

Mobius has recently moved into the Champlain Mill. With this new addition to our Winooski Falls community we thought it would be a great opportunity for us to support the group and those who make it possible for Mobius to exist every day. What better way to do this than to say thanks with a party. The Cascades will be hosting Mobius staff, mentors and donors tomorrow from 5:30-7:30PM and we couldn’t be happier!

Things are moving at the Cascades with 7 new contracts in the past two weeks! We have surpassed our spring sales goal and are currently at 56% sold, that’s 39 units! RU12? Community Center opens tomorrow on the 3rd floor of the Champlain Mill in Winooski VT. RU12? is a Vermont based group that “celebrates, educates and advocates with and for lesbians, gays, bisexual, transgender and queer Vermonters”.  We’re very excited to have them as new tenants in the Mill. If you are interested in learning more check out their website (www.ru12.org ) or stop by Sunday, July 25th from 3-5PM for an open house after the Pride Parade in Burlington VT.

The street in front of the Cascades sales office is already bustling with preparation for this evenings Riverwalk Festival in Winooski VT. We are very excited to be sponsoring as the Winooski Falls Development Group. There will be live music, food, games and fireworks at sunset. Tammy Fletcher and Waylon Speed are a few of the performers today. You’ll also find food as mixed as our little community from all different cultures.

Winooski Falls Way will be closed down at 4PM for the festival. You can find parking in the city garage off Cascades Way. It is free for all festival goers. Come down and enjoy!

New Breed Marketing's New Offices in the Champlain Mill, Winooski VT

New Breed Marketing has taken on additional space in the Champlain Mill. Recently renovated they are unveiling the new space on the 17th of this month. Their success is not only reflected in their office expansion they have also seen and increase in new customers and managed to grow in this difficult economy.

The Community College of Vermont had a grand opening ceremony yesterday to celebrate their new site in Winooski. We’ve been watching the building go up over the last year and it’s turned out to be a really beautiful building (see images below). The Cascades sales team attended the ribbon cutting ceremony and took a tour of the facility. The architect and faculty involved in design did an outstanding job incorporating function and style. Jim Douglas was present, along with many other state official involved with the project.

With all the hype around CCV coming into the Winooski Falls neighborhood the local media took some time to catch up with our team. Men at work pouring the concrete in the new Winooski Falls Market!

Yes, the rumors are true! We’ve signed a lease on the market space in Keen’s Crossing. The concrete floor is being poured as I type this. The market will be called the Winooski Falls Market & Deli and is scheduled to open in early August! They proprietors of the market, Larry Rondeau & Laurie Chicoine, plan to offer made to order specialty sandwiches, homemade soups and pre-made salads. The market will also have a variety of convenience items like milk, bread, butter, cereal, beer and wine.

We are all very excited to welcome the Larry, Laurie and Winooski Falls Market & Deli! We’ll keep you posted on their progress.

It is Restaurant Week in Burlington and Our House Bistro in Winooski’s downtown is open for business. Friends waited an hour on line yesterday for opening night, but raved it was worth the wait.

Seven Days has a great article with the low-down on the chef owners & the type of cuisine they’ll be serving up. We’ll be posting our own review and hours once we’ve had a chance to check it out.
